• 1. Talk to a lawyer about your space.
• 2. Check zoning, plus your lease or HOA. OKC's draft code says a resident must run any home occupation. OKC draft code
• 3. Hold your licences. The city food licence is $140 a year, after OCCHD inspection and zoning sign-off. OKC
• 4. Restaurant or bar: ask OCCHD if your licence covers a guest chef (unverified). OKC
• 5. Settle drinks with the organizer: see Drinks below.
• 6. Ask your insurer about ticketed events. Homeowners policies exclude activity "engaged in for money or other compensation." Some policies exempt small side income; get it in writing from your insurer. ISO HO-3
• 7. Ask the organizer for their OCCHD licence and a certificate of insurance naming you. OCCHD
• 8. Set your rental fee and deposit in writing. Handshakes are lovely. They don't hold deposits.

Drinks

• Licensed restaurant or bar: sell drinks under your own ABLE licence. If a caterer pours too, you're both liable for its violations. 37A O.S. 2-113(D)
• Unlicensed space: tickets make it a public event, so the organizer needs ABLE's $255 public event licence, 60 days ahead. A licensed caterer can pour under it; a caterer licence alone isn't enough (confirm with ABLE). HB 2369 37A O.S. 2-113(G) ABLE
• Since 2026-07-01, every drink at a rented event venue, even your own or guests' BYOB, needs a licensed pourer: venue, caterer or event bartender ($50 plus $3.50). 37A O.S. 2-113(I) ABLE
