Opening your space to pop-ups in Milwaukee: the checklist

• 1. Talk to a lawyer about your space.
• 2. Home: occupation rules allow no added traffic or parking, no signs, and 25% of floor area at most. s. 295-503
• 3. Check your lease or HOA.
• 4. Restaurant? A Temporary Change of Plan permit covers one-off hours, capacity or entertainment changes. It's $75, or $100 late. Milwaukee

Drinks

• Unlicensed space rented to the public: since 1/1/2026 it's a "public place," so no alcohol at all, BYOB or catered, without your own licence or permit. Wisconsin has no caterer's liquor licence to lean on. s. 125.09(1) DOR 3108
• No-sale event venue permit: $300 for 2 years. Beer and wine, 6 days a year and 1 a month, operator-licensed servers for 20 or more guests. DOR 3122 bars "charging admission" where alcohol is served, so it can't carry a ticketed night. s. 125.24(2) DOR 3122
