On Tenseats a guest opens a feed of food and drink nights where they live: supper clubs, pop-up dinners, tastings, cocktail nights. They follow the chefs, mixologists, creators and venue hosts they like. The ticket sits in Apple Wallet, and the door is a QR scan from the organizer's phone.

For an organizer

The same faces, a little more often.

A traveller is at your table once, and that is a good night. A neighbor can be there again next month. On Tenseats the people who came can follow you, so your second night starts with them and with whoever they bring. A few nights in, that is a room of regulars.

The Eatwith column is our calculation from Eatwith's help center, which says a 30% service fee is added on top of the host's price and paid by the guest, and that hosts receive 100% of the price they set. Its own example: a host price of $20 means the guest pays $26. Eatwith's Terms (s7.2) say the percentage is variable, so your figure may differ.

* No separate processing line on the Eatwith side: Eatwith says its 30% covers taxes, payment processing, support and insurance, so the two "Your guest pays" rows are like for like. The Tenseats service fee stops at $4.99. The cap is the Tenseats service fee. Card processing is added at checkout. Organizers also pay one listing fee of $8.99 per ticketed event (pricing).

Is Tenseats an Eatwith alternative for supper clubs and pop-up dinners?

For supper clubs, dinner parties, pop-up dinners, tastings and cocktail nights in the US, yes. The two are built around different guests. Eatwith describes its mission as connecting local hosts with travellers. Tenseats is built around your own city: guests follow you, and your next night starts with the people who came to the last one. If travellers are who you want to cook for, Eatwith fits that, and the verdict above says so.1

What does each one charge?

On Tenseats, guests pay the ticket price plus one flat service fee: $1.99 up to a $50 ticket, $2.99 up to $99, and $4.99 above, so it stops at $4.99. The cap is the Tenseats service fee. Card processing is added at checkout. Organizers keep every dollar of the ticket price and pay one listing fee of $8.99 per ticketed event. Free RSVP events are free. Insider membership is $99 a year and takes the service fee to $0. On Eatwith, per its help center, a 30% service fee is added on top of the host's price and paid by the guest, and hosts receive 100% of the price they set: a $20 host price means the guest pays $26.
